Akron / Canton /Kent Bat Removal is About Timing

Sure, not many people want bats living in their attic, chimney, or soffits.  Realizing this, we offer effective bat removal for the Akron/Canton/Kent area.

But, when people call us (and we’re glad they do) they are sometimes a little confused as to why we can’t get the bats out and keep them out (exclusion) RIGHT NOW.

The answer is “Timing”.  Specifically, the timing of bat breeding and bat pup raising.

Bats give birth in late spring and summer.  Bats are mammals.  Bats aren’t born ready to fly.  It is illegal (and unwise) to kill bats in the State of Ohio.  Considering these four truths concerning Ohio bats, homeowners will hopefully understand why waiting is the option we recommend.  We won’t start to exclude the bats until Sept. 1, a date that biologists agree our efforts won’t have a detrimental effect on the bats.

That said, now is the time to line up and schedule your bat removal in the Akron/Canton area.  In fact, July and August are good times to start some preparatory work.  For example, we won’t disturb the bats’ main entrance/exit, but we can begin to seal up other weak areas that may be accessible to bats.  This is done so that when we eventually take away their main entry point, they can’t get in a proverbial back door.  This sealing of possible secondary entries is something we can do right now.  We can also seal off any entries from the bats living space to the people’s living space.  This ensures no baby bat surprises in bedrooms as they start to test their wings.
